Gifts of the Spirit
Part One
Spiritual Gifts : over-view
In I Cor. 12: 4-11 is teaching us there are a variety of gifts and we are each given one or many. The Holy Spirit is the one who distributes these gifts. I believe He distributes these according to our personalities, our calling and our destinies. Gifts are essential to live an abundant, spirit filled life. Gifts give us knowledge and deepen our understanding of the supernatural world. Discernment, gives us insight into the realm where the angels, both good and evil dwell and allows us to move with them or remove them from our lives. This gives us knowledge of the plans of the enemy and how we can war against them.<>The gift of prophecy is used to encourage, edify and teach. Don't confuse this with the call of a prophet. A gift is given to whomever the Spirit wills and is used in everyday life and calls are what God places on leaders. They carry a grace with it to lead nations.<> Call's pertain to leaders, gifts are what equip leaders as well as followers. More about this later<><
Another gift, is tongues.<> Either speaking them or giving and interpretation of what was said. This is speaking in an unknown language. There is also the tongue of speaking a earth known language, so you may communicate with a different nation. This would be most helpful if you love to travel to other countries and don't have time to go to school to learn their language. But I also feel this gift shows up in individual's who have the ability to learn multiple languages with ease. They seem to be able to retain, as an example French, Russian, German and some African dialect hardly spoken. and speak them on a regular basis.<>
I Corinthians 12: 3 - 7 Holy Spirit is teaching us the ways He releases His Spirit to help us. One is by gifts, another is by a variety of ministries and another is by a variety of effects, Effects can be translated as "operation". The actual results of God's grace when it is released. Each gift or ministry or effects has the potential to change, heal, restore and save those with whom is comes in contact with. If we have been given anyone of these you are to use them.!<> Time spent reading books, or going to a class or listening to teaching cd's from others whom have spent years before us using their gift is well worth your time. We can learn from others, and in turn teach others what we have learned.<>
I would like to stop here for a moment and let you know there are those are believers but seem to think, we no longer need these gifts. I do not understand this line of thinking. We need all the Spirit can give us to lead a full life and overcome all that would try to stop us. These gifts are one tool used for this. Equipping us with hope, opening our eyes to the supernatural realm, equip us as warriors for the Kingdom, to bring Heaven on Earth, and very useful to minister to those around the world who do not yet know Christ as their Savior. As far as my life goes, I still need this<><
Having the gift of wisdom, a wisdom beyond earthy knowing is very much needed. Not only is daily living, but in law enforcement matters, on a state level, nation running and world over issues. Proverbs 8:6-8 states, for I shall speak noble things, the opening of my lips will produce right things my mouth will utter truth, wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All utterances of my mouth are in righteousness. 21, to endow those who love me with wealth, that I may fill their treasuries. This chapter gives a understanding of what comes with wisdom and the book of Proverbs guides us into God-given wisdom and how to apply and teach others. So if you have the gift of wisdom, which is the first gift mentioned, study the book of Proverbs, you will gain wisdom and your gift will accelerate. <>
We are given the gifts, but it is up to each one of us to cultivate that gift. To walk it out and acquire or develop the skill going with the gift. When given the gift, I believe it is supernaturally put in our spirits, so we have an ability beyond normal human capacity to use that gift, but not all knowledge, skill or ability pertaining to that gift is in place<>
This can be applied with the gifts, of prophecy, knowledge, wisdom and discernment. <>With the gift of miracles, healing, tongues and interpretation there are books to read from those who have walked in these gifts, we can learn from them ,the do and don'ts.

Dying to the Old Man,
I just read a resent blog about dying to the old nature and living in my new God given nature. One person asked, "How do I do that on a day to day basis?" That is a good question and would take a book to answer. but I am going to write the daily wisdom, so that we can all overcome the old way of living and get started on the new way in Christ and what He has to offer.
Gal. chapters 5 & 6 give a good description of what the old nature does and then explains what the new nature should look like in our daily life. Each one of us who has accepted Jesus into our life and asked Him to be our savior and have been baptized with water and Holy Spirit has started the process of a new life in Christ. But, we still have old habits to stop and new ones to start. How do we get rid of the bad and start learning the new? The first step, is to daily ask Holy Spirit to show you Jesus in everyday life. Set aside time each day to read the word, teachings by Godly leaders and spend time in prayer. Worship is also necessary. Worship helps us to thank and praise God for who He is and fills our hearts and minds with sounds and words that our minds will dwell on all through our day. Music can heal or harm. The right music, will heal your wounds. God is also enthroned upon our praises. So He is very near, when we solely focus on Him and His attributes.
Study the Bible. Knowledge and wisdom of the ways of kingdom life is essential. Someone who says they are a believer, but they don't read, will have a hard time walking in his new man and have the Word of God etched in their heart.
New friends are also important. If you truly want to live a new life, you need to let go of all the old. Pray about it, God will guide you. Some say, well you will influence them, and lead them to salvation. If you are a strong person and have soaked in Gods ways, than yes, witness to them. But the word says, not to hang around those who ways are contrary to His.
So study, worship, prayer and trust God. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it.
Just put one foot in front of the other, and the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you. Just keep pressing in!

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I want the new man inside me. I want a new life, free from all past addictions, hurts, pains and mistakes. Fill me anew with Your power so, I may say yes to You and no to the old man. I want to be alive in Christ and dead to my old habits. I give You permission to invade my life, Mold me and make me like You. I ask for a spirit of wisdom, revelation, understanding, counsel, might and the spirit of the fear of the Lord, I need these to be the overcomer I am in You! Thank You Jesus, for this new life. amen
